Dola AI Video Generator: Seedance 2.5, Free Limits and the US Block
Updated 2026-10-12
The Dola AI video generator is the video feature inside Dola, ByteDance's international AI assistant app (called Cici until November 2025). Its app listing promotes Dreamina Seedance 2.5 as the video model. Video is part of the free plan with an unpublished daily limit, and paid plans raise it – but as of October 2026 Dola is not listed on the US App Store and dola.com blocks unsupported regions. If you are in the US, or you just want the video model without installing an assistant app, you can run Seedance 2.5 in the browser on our Dola AI video generator alternative.
GenModelHub is independent and not affiliated with ByteDance, Dola or Dreamina. Below is what we could confirm about Dola and how its video feature compares with running the model directly.
What is Dola AI?
Dola is a general AI assistant: chat, writing, translation, image generation, photo editing, slide decks and short videos in one app. It launched in August 2023 as Cici and was renamed Dola around November 3, 2025; accounts carried over and cici.com now redirects to dola.com. It is the international sibling of Doubao, ByteDance's chatbot for China. The developer named in the app stores is Spring (SG) Pte. Ltd., a Singapore company in the ByteDance group.
Search interest has grown fast. Google Ads data shows US searches for "dola ai" rising from about 140 a month in September 2025 to 40,500 in August 2026 – a lot of people are trying to find it, including from the US where it isn't officially offered.
Which model does the Dola video generator use?
The Dola app listing names Dreamina Seedance 2.5 as its most powerful video model. Seedance 2.5 is ByteDance's video model released in summer 2026, successor to Seedance 2.0. It produces short clips with coherent motion and generated sound from a text prompt or a photo.
ByteDance doesn't publish a model card for the Dola app as a whole, so you can't always tell which model answers a chat or makes an image. For video, though, the listing is explicit about Seedance 2.5.
Is the Dola AI video generator free?
Partly:
- Free plan: chat, writing, translation and basic images are free. Advanced features – Pro Mode and video – have a daily allowance that ByteDance doesn't publish, and generation can be slower at busy times.
- Paid plans: a review of the UK App Store listing (October 5, 2026) found Dola Plus at £7.49 a month (£74.99 a year), Dola Pro at £36.99 and Dola Max at £109.99 a month. Prices differ by country because the app stores set local prices.
There is no US price, because the app isn't sold in the US.
Why can't I use Dola in the US?
At the time of writing, the US App Store page for Dola returns "not found", and dola.com shows a "not available in this country or region" message in unsupported markets. ByteDance hasn't explained the decision publicly. The practical results:
- Many people search for a Dola AI APK instead. Don't side-load unofficial app files – they are a common malware route, and an unofficial build gives you no account security.
- A VPN may get you past the website check, but it can break the app's terms and still leaves you without a US subscription.
If your goal is the video model rather than the assistant, the simpler route is to use Seedance 2.5 somewhere that works in your country.
How to make a Seedance 2.5 video without Dola
On our Seedance 2.5 page for Dola users:
- Describe one scene: subject, action, setting, one camera move, the light and the sound you want. Or upload a photo for image-to-video.
- Keep Seedance 2.5 or switch models: Seedance 2.5 is preselected. For cheap drafts, switch to MiniMax H3 or Seedance 2 Mini (10 credits for 5 seconds), or to Veo 3.1 when people talk on screen.
- Check the cost, then generate: Seedance 2.5 costs 10 credits per second, so a 5-second clip is 50 credits. New users get free credits to start; one-time packs start at $4.9 and failed generations are refunded.
- Download the MP4 – no watermark.
Dola vs running Seedance 2.5 directly
| Dola app | Seedance 2.5 on GenModelHub | |
|---|---|---|
| Who runs it | ByteDance (Spring (SG) Pte. Ltd.) | Independent site, model via API |
| Available in the US | No (as of Oct 2026) | Yes, in the browser |
| Free use | Daily allowance, not published | Free credits to start |
| Paid | Monthly plans (from £7.49/month in the UK) | One-time packs from $4.9, or plans |
| Other features | Chat, images, slides, translation | Video only (several models) |
Dola is the better pick if you live in a supported country and want an all-in-one assistant. If you mainly want clips from Seedance 2.5, a dedicated video page gives you more control over model, length and cost per clip.
Prompt tips for Seedance 2.5
- One scene per prompt. Several locations or many actions in one prompt usually produce mushy motion.
- Name one camera move: "slow dolly in", "handheld follow", "static wide shot".
- Ask for sound explicitly: "waves and seagulls", "quiet café chatter".
- Leave out on-screen text – video models still render lettering poorly.
- Use a photo for consistency. For a product or recurring character, image-to-video keeps the look stable across clips.
